I see this a lot, no one has actual names, or any reference for names, that are legit Native American, varying among the tribes, for their characters.

Babynames.com and shit like that will give you names made up by white people.

However, I’ve got your solution.

Native-Languages  is a good website to turn to for knowledge on a lot of native things, including native names. If you’re unsure about the names you’ve picked, they even have a list of made up names here!

Please don’t trust names like babynames.com for native names, they’re made up and often quite offensive to the cultures themselves.

I’m gonna be honest - this is just as bad.

This website has a questionable, mixed bag of “language collection” and is often posting material written by non-native and non-connected people. A lot of the language up there is inaccurate or completely wrong, or placed/cited incorrectly.

And really, if you have an Eastern Tsalagi character who you want to name “Running Wolf” and you name them that, just in the Eastern Tsalagi language, that’s still wrong and incorrect. A lot of tribes didn’t have naming systems like that. That’s just as bad as pulling some random garbage off of babynames, to assume that something as deep and complex as naming systems is (a) the same across cultures in America (b) the stereotypical nature-related descriptive name propagated by media.

If you’re not native, you shouldn’t be spreading misinformation like this. I know the point of this post was to help, but this is just as harmful as calling your character “Strong Willow” or whatever.

Actual in-depth research will have to  be made if you want to develop an accurate OC of any race.
